Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge Blog Candy

Hello everyone,
Just a quick post to let you all know that Peachy Keen have the most fabulous blog candy on offer.  Just either click here or click the link in my side bar to take you there and leave your comment and follow the rules. You have until October 23rd - so what are you waiting for??
You gotta be in it to win it!!!
GO!!

Dusting off the medallion!!

Hello everyone,
Well I got a bonus day today to do my craft.  The doc told me yesterday I had shingles but I could go to work.  However, because I work in a Hospital (not nursing) my boss wanted to wait for clearance from Occ Health - so couldn't go in today.  Feel a bit of a fraud but hey ho if they tell me to have a day off who am I to argue!! :)
Anyway, I thought I'd have a go at the Sophisticat challenge.  I was a bit daunted when I first saw it but when I saw that it didn't have to be a huge flower I thought I'd give it a go.
I also thought I would submit this for two other challenges:
Papertake Weekly Challenge - Black, white and 1 other colour
CRAFT challenge - No backing paper - boy that was hard to do!!  Good challenge guys!.
So here is the sketch from Sophisticat:

And here is the card I made.

Hopefully you can see that there are three layers here on the big design in the middle and that the two smaller designs are cut from the middle of the main medallion. (Now this wood mounted rubber stamp has been in my stash for ages, I can't remember where I bought it - possibly Hobbycraft - or whose make it is as I can't read the writing on the side of the stamp) I used my quickie glue pen and pale turquoise glitter (for my other colour) and picked out pieces to cover with glitter.  The white, black and turquoise brads are from my stash.  The sentiment is one from Janet at Pink Gem.

Colours of Autumn

Hello everyone.
Well the weekend is nearly at a close - back to work tomorrow :(
My last post for this weekend will fit five challenges:
Friday Sketchers - Sketch to follow (with the option of distressing which I didn't do as it didn't fit this card)
Allsorts - Autumn Days
Digital Tuesday - Falling Leaves
My Time to Craft - Autumn Fest
Ooh-la-la Challenge - Shades of Autumn
So here is the sketch from Friday Sketchers:

And here is the card I made:

The image I used is called Baby Kai in the Leaves and is from Mo's Digital Pencil.  He is coloured using blending pencils, watercolours and Promarkers.  The brown backing paper is from Papermania, the multicoloured paper is printed from My Craft Studio - Florals and the pale green leaf paper (which you can't see very much of is from a Hot Off the Press book called Emerald.  The sentiment is a Clarity Stamp and the flower was from my stash.
Comments as always, greatly appreciated.

Peachy Keen

Hi everyone,
Now whilst I was blog hopping this afternoon I found the Peachy Keen challenge blog.  Their challenge for this time is to make something hanging.  It must feature something gold, some way to hang and a stamped image.
This is what I did:

I had some die cut scalloped circles but none the right colour.  So I drew around one of them and made two .  I used a stamped image from Barbara at Clarity Stamp - one I bought from the Hobbycraft show last November and hadn't yet used.

I stamped the image and then embossed it with Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder and I coloured the image using Promarkers and watercolour pencils.  I used gold stickles glue around the edges of the circle on both sides and placed a piece of gold ribbon in the middle before sticking the two circles together.  I may even hang this on my Christmas Tree this year!

1st Birthday Card

Well my friends, I hope I find you well on another beautiful September day.
My daughter asked me to make a 1st Birthday card for a friend's little girl.  Well, I couldn't just make a card now could I.  I needed to be able to submit it for at least one challenge too - well you do don't you?
So I followed the sketch at Creative Inspirations shown below:

The image is one from Elisabeth at Soft Pencil which I thought was perfect for a little girl's first birthday.  All the rest of the components are from my craft stash.

An inside job - in 3D!

Hello my blogging buddies.
I hope this Friday finds you all well and ready for the weekend!  I certainly am!
This card is one I made for a friend at work who is going to be 50 tomorrow.  As I was making it I naturally thought about which challenges I could enter with this card.
So these are the challenges I am putting this card in for:
Creative Card Crew - Decorate the inside of your card.
Crafty Cardmakers - 3D
Secret Crafter's Saturday Challenge - One for the girls!
So - firstly some piccys of said card:
The "ribbon" on the front is raised up on the card and the flower is two layers on top of a circular shape.

The outer inside of the card (sounds rubbish but I'm sure you all know what I mean) has a layer of backingpaper a circular shape and then a tea bag folded design with a rose head placed in the middle.

The two inners both had images placed on them, one was sort of 3D with the skeleton leaves behind the image and the image raised off the card and the "Just for You" was cut from an accessory sheet. The ribbon, the peel off's, the skeleton leaves and the little pink gems were all from my craft stash.

All the papers for this card were printed out from a Member's only download over at Crafter's Companion which I have had for a while and never used.    I think this covers the 3D challenge, I have certainly decorated the inside of my card and I'm pretty sure no boys would like this card so I'd say this is definitely one for the girls!!

Cat's Whiskers

Hello fellow bloggers.
Just a quickie to say that Jacqui over at The Cat's Whiskers has yet another Candy on offer which this time includes Stamps generously donated by Sara over at Crafter's Companion.  All you have to do is put a link on your blog to the Candy, Cat's Whiskers and Crafter's Companion and Bob's your Uncle!!  This is what you will be getting if you are the lucky winner:

GOOD LUCK!!

A more restrained challenge!

Hello again,
Definitely the last post for tonight.
After my mammoth 8 challenge card yesterday, I thought I should be a little more restrained today.  Although Nina at There's Magic In The Air has suggested that perhaps next week I could get 10 challenges in!!!  Well, Nina we will have to see!
Anyway, this card meets just three challenges this time and without further ado here is the first.  The sketch I followed was at Crazy 4 Challenges and is shown below:

Cindy does love her sketches!!

This is the card I made following this sketch:

The other challenges I am submitting this for are:
Simon Says - A recipe - three embellishments, two papers and 1 image.
Allsorts - Snowflakes in September.
Now strictly speaking I have only used two papers to qualify for the challenge at Simon Says and they are the two around the image because the snowflakes in the background are actually a piece of material so not actually paper (Hope that counts you guys!).  It is blue in colour and the snowflakes are silver glitter but it doesn't really show up in this photo :(
The image is a wood mounted rubber stamp from Anita's, the O Holy Night ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons, and the snowflakes at the bottom are from my craft stash.
Hope you like it.

An Invitation Commission

Hi everyone in blogland!!
Just a couple of quick posts tonight - last for a while as I'm off to Cornwall for a couple of days tomorrow.
Firstly I would just like to share with you a photo of an Evening Invitation I made recently.  Well, actually I made 100 of them but like the big twit that I am I forgot to take a photograph of them all done and laid out so this is a "hindsight" post.
My friend wanted something simple with a couple of hearts on the front - nothing else just that.  This is what I came up with.

I used the computer for all of this apart from the glitter glue.  I printed the word evening at the bottom, Put a text box a little way up and filled it with colour and then added an image of two entwined hearts which I found in some clip art.  Once I had printed them all off (and that's another story!!) I used my quickie glue pen to add some silver glitter to the hearts to make them stand out.  It was a bit touch and go with the old glitter pen towards the end - thought I might run out - but phew - just enough.  I also did the wording inside but decided against posting a pic of that for privacy reasons!
Anyway, there you have it 100 Evening invitations and I also added a reply card in for good measure.

Everything at once!

Hi all,
This will probably be my only post this weekend so I thought I'd better make it a good one!
I hope that this card meets 8 ............... EIGHT................... yes 8 challenges!!!!
Firstly here is the sketch I followed from Delightful sketches (number 7).

And here is the card I made following it:

Recipe:  Black and white card for the backing paper - from an oriental pack I bought from Readicut.  The scalloped black and white paper around the image from the same pack.  The image was from There's Magic In The Air.  The small scalloped shape was from my stash and has a Clarity Stamp sentiment stamped and heat embossed on to it. (I used purple ink and clear embossing powder to do this).

The purple rose paper is from my stash - again in a pack from Readicut.  The two little white brads were from my stash and the little purple flower was lifted from a sentiment pack I had in my draw.  The two purple ribbons were from my ribbon hoard which I always get from Crafty Ribbons.
So here is the list of challenges I hope this card will qualify for:
Pile it On - Black, White and 1 other colour (purple)
Pollycraft - Black, White and 1 other colour
There's Magic In the Air - Use the image and emboss somewhere on your card.
Ooh La La - Floral Fantasy
Charisma Cardz - Flower Power
Penny's Challenge - Use scallops
Think Ink Tuesday - Recipe - 1 image, 2 Different ribbons, 3 layers and use scallops
Oh boy, I am exhausted now after all that - I need Wine!!

ABC Challenge and A Spoonful of Sugar

Hi all,
This is defintely the last post for tonight.  Work tomorrow, hair to wash, clothes to iron etc etc yawn yawn!!
Anyway, here is the card first off:
Then the sketch I followed which is at A Spoonful of Sugar - wicked sketch!!
Both backing papers are from a 8 x 8 pack of Christmas papers.  I bought them at the Craft show at the NEC but don't have the packaging anymore so not sure whose make they are, sorry.  The image is a Pink Gem image - girl on reindeer.  Janet has such wonderful stamps it's hard to know what to choose first!  Thanks Janet.  She is coloured using watercolour pencils, glitter pens and ProMarkers (hope you've done the blog hop!!)
The snowflake charm is a Crafty Bitz accessory, the Sentiment is from a pack of charms from a company called Darice and the little Christmas trees are from a pack of die cut Christmas Trees I bought ages ago and never got to use which I have added Stickles Glitter Glue to - so ABC - D for Diecuts fits here.
Hope you like it people.

Crazy 4 Challenges and My Time To Craft

Hello everyone,
Think this may be last post for today and it fits in with two challenges.
Firstly I followed the sketch at Crazy 4 Challenges which I found this weekend whilst blog hopping.
It's a fun site and well worth a visit.  My Time To Craft are having a "Polka Party" this week so this card will be going in for that too.  The image is a freebie from a lady called Lori Boyd and this little freebie is only available for a short while so pop over here and you may just be lucky enough to still snag her.  Lori is thinking of branching out into the world of Digi images and this is a trial freebie - thanks Lori. I coloured here in with watercolour pencils and then added some glitter from the PeeWee Glitters Butterfly collection.  Well don't all tutu's have sparkly bits on them?? LOL
The polka dot paper is from my craft stash as is the pale pink card stock.  The gems are also from my stash.  Now I know the polka dot paper looks red on this pic but it is bright pink, honest!

New challenge site and fantastic blog candy.

Just had to let everyone know about this great new site I just found (sorry if you beat me to it).  It is called Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential.  This is their launch candy and doesn't it look fantastic.  They are a weekly challenge site and are also on the look out for Spotlight Divas (DT members to you and me) - but you will have to be quick the closing date for the Spotlight Diva is 17th September which is Thursday.  The candy will close on 25th and winner will be announced on Saturday 26th September just in time for their first challenge.  So off you all hop and have a quick look.

Mojo Monday

Just a quick entry for the Mojo Monday challenge as I love their sketch.
I have had to make a bereavement card and followed the sketch at Mojo Monday so thought I would post it and see what everyone thought.  Bereavement cards are not something we make as a regular thing but still they are part of life and we should put as much feeling and heart into these as we do all the others we make.
The black backing paper is one from a MIC craft pack and the white card at the bottom is one I had from Readicut in a pack of five colours, it is slightly embossed although that doesn't show up much in this photo.  The leafy backing paper is from one of my many HOTP books and although looks brown in this piccy is actually black and grey.  The rose image and the sentiment are both from Barbara at Clarity Stamp and the ribbon is one I bought ages ago from Hobbycraft.

Passion for Promarkers - Big Blog Hop!

Hi guys,
Just had to let you all know about this fantastic prize being offered over at Passion for Promarkers!
You have to visit the DT blogs in turn, collect a word and then you will have a phrase at the end of the hop.
You must leave a comment on each blog to show you have visited and then a comment at the end back on the main blogsite.  This is a fantastic prize and well worth the effort I think.
Good luck to all.

Sophisticat, Charisma and Cute Card Thursday Challenges

Hello again my crafting buddies,
My second post for tonight is a card I made following the Sophisticat Challenge Sketch #1 as shown here:

I have also entered this card for two other challenges:
Charisma Cardz - Patchwork
Cute Card Thursday - Pink and Green

I used a Pink Gem stamp and coloured it in with Sakura Gelly Glaze pens, Art-Kure water sketch brushes and watercolour pencils.

The backing papers were from a HOTP paper Pizzaz book called Baby, the sentiment was from my craft stash, the ribbons were from Craft Creations and the Gems were from my craft stash.  The white flower was one I had in my stash for years.
So there you have it to multiple challenges for today.  Hopefully back tomorrow with more.
Cheers guys

Cupcake, Mojo Monday, Pile it On and Simon Says Challenges

Hello to all of you and what is a beautiful sunny September day.
I am really not sure about this card at all.  You know sometimes when you lay it out it looks ok and then when you've stuck everything down - well it just doesn't feel right?  Well, this is one of those cards!
Anyway firstly here is the sketch I followed from Mojo Monday.

I love the sketches at Mojo Monday and hope to do many more cards based on their sketches.

I decided on an Oriental theme and the bird images and smaller piece of backing paper are from Joanna Sheen's Oriental CD as is the sentiment.
The piece of red blue and white backing paper is from an oriental paper pack from which was a freebie from Crafty Computer Paper that I got at the Hobbycrafts/Crafts for Christmas show one year at the NEC.
The white ribbon was from my stash and the lady in kimono image was one from Barbara at Clarity Stamp.
So the challenges I am entering this card for are:
Cupcake Challenge - Red, White and Blue
Mojo Monday - sketch
Pile it on - Birthday
Anyway, let me know what you think guys - good or bad - I don't mind.
Cheers!

Delightful Sketches & Creative Inspirations

Hi again,
Just one last quick post for tonight which is for two challenges.
Firstly the sketch I followed was Sketch number 6 over at Delightful Sketches as shown below:

The image I chose was a Pollycraft ready coloured image called Benji and Bex Valentines.

I would normally choose to colour it myself but the colours on this image were just perfect to submit my card for the challenge over at Creative Inspirations which was lilac, grey and purple.
So that's it for tonight - see you all again later in the week.
Cheers Dawn xx

Sketch Saturday DT Challenge

Hi all,
Well, it's taken me a while what with work and everything but I finally finished my card for the Sketch Saturday DT challenge.  Firstly this is the sketch that had to be followed:
I decided to go for a Christmas Theme for this card and used a Pollycraft image called Cherry Kisses Snowball which Paula kindly gave us as a freebie and you can find her here - thank you Paula.
I had decided on blue's and snowflakes as my basis for the colours and used three snowflake charm thingies (not sure what you'd call them really) instead of ribbon.  The main image is coloured using watercolour pencils, Art Kure Colour Sketch brushes and Promarkers.
The sentiment is one from Barbara at Clarity Stamp
(Those of you who check in regularly will have realised I have quite a few of Barbara's stamps!!) LOL.
The ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons and all the backing papers are from my stash, except the one at the top which is one from the Occasions double CD from Crafter's Companion.  So there you have it.  I have everything crosses for this one and I really enjoyed making it.
Comments please guys and gals would be really really appreciated!
Ta ever so.

Mojo Monday and Charisma Cardz Challenge

Well, this will be the last one for today.  The OH has forgotten what I look like!  (A good thing some might say!) LOL.
Anyway, firstly I chose to follow the sketch at Mojo Monday Challenge as shown below:
For the main image I wanted to use one of my Pollycraft images.
I chose Cherry Kisses Chillin - such a cute image - thank you Paula for your talent!  Then, based on the challenge over at Charisma Cardz which was swirls and curls (with added extra hearts), I chose the backing paper which is a swirly curly paper from HOTP Sarabook Emerald.
The two side pieces were from the same book and have the words "Journey" "Love" and "Creativity" which all seemed to go together with the rest of the card.  I put three extra little hearts down the left hand side (added extra hearts) and voila!  I even cut out the image using a heart shape.
